Mattias Ståhl wins British Open 2008
|
||
This year’s most important European tournament on Open System minigolf courses, the British Open, was played on 13-14 September in Margate, United Kingdom. Mattias Ståhl of Sweden continued the tradition of foreign domination on British soil, winning the competition with a one point margin to silver medalist Björn Dinau, also from Sweden. The champion of 2007 and 2005, Jouni Valkjärvi of Finland, was left third this year, 7 points behind Dinau, and one point ahead of Norbert Rehfeld of Germany in fourth place. Two British players reached the top ten: Andy Exall in 5th place, and John McIver in 9th place. British Open is played on Minigolf Open System (MOS) courses of British-American style, with a felt carpet and freely designed shapes and obstacles. archive photos from 2007 by Sean & Marion Homer
