Geist leads Hardenberg again to victory in D-Bundesliga

Alexander Geist was leader of the pack with a blue total score (average 24.50 on beton), as BGS Hardenberg-Pötter won the second day of German Bundesliga 2008–2009.

The competition was played at the beton course of Hilzingen, preparing the German teams for European Cup, which will be played on the same course on 2–4 October 2008.

SG Arheilgen was second in the competition, full 26 points behind Hardenberg (1.08 points per player and round). One point behind Arheilgen in third place came Niendorfer MC, which now holds the second place in league table — having just risen to 1st Bundesliga for this season from 2nd Bundesliga.

Women’s competition offered no surprises in Hilzingen. The six teams landed in the same ranking order as in the first weekend of the league, with clear margins of some 10 points between the teams: Mainz, Göttingen, Neutraubling, Uerdingen, Olching, Olympia Kiel.

The best female player of the competition was Stefanie Kern of MGC Mainz (average 25.50) — tied second best of all players, including both men and women. Alice Kobisch of MGC Mainz was second best in women with average 26.25, and Bianca Oberweg of MGC Göttingen third best with average 27.00.

The best male players of the weekend were Alexander Geist of Hardenberg 24.50, Uwe Ludwig (reserve player of Hardenberg) 25.50, young rising star Sascha Spreier of MGC Mainz 25.75, and the Dutchman Alexander Jasper of MGC Dormagen-Brechten 25.75.
