German national team legends of 1990’s, Michael Neuland and Joachim “Jochen” Sturm, took the first place at 30 Hours Marathon for pairs at the 80% beton indoor course in Bassersdorf, Switzerland. Swiss players Vitus Spescha & Cedric Mathys landed in tied total score with the winners (average 25.66), but the German veterans proved better in the sudden death play-off for victory of the tournament. No less than 24 points behind the silver medalists (0.93 points per player and round) came the Swiss pair Sonja Viatte & Michel Eggenschwiler in third place, with average score 26.59. German stars Miroslav Stoparic & Max Hermann were left fourth, in tied points with Viatte & Eggenschwiler. 100 players from 5 countries (Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland) participated in Bassersdorf 30h Marathon 2008, making it one of the international highlights of the winter season.
